Road Tripin'

The drive from Las Vegas to Baltimore was an interesting one. We spread it out over four days and drove through Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, W. Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Lafe and Charlie joined us too, so we were one cozy family in the Jeep. 

We made a little pit stop somewhere in Utah to walk the dogs and check out some pretty scenes.

Our first overnight stop was in Golden, CO, to see my buddies Julie and Isaac. Julie showed us around and we walked with our pups and hers along the river. Charlie is not really that great around other dogs, so we were pretty impressed with how well she did on the river walk! It was great to see my dear friend, I've missed her too much.

The next day, we stopped in Aurora, CO to visit with my Aunt Kathy. Another person I've missed dearly.

Then we did A LOT of driving through some pretty boring places. Those middle america flatlands are just miles upon miles upon miles of the same thing. Lots of grass, Jesus signs, Noah's Arc replicas, world's biggest crosses, and fast food. We pretty much lived on audio books and podcasts to past the time (shout out to My Favorite Murder, My Dad Wrote A Porno, and The Disaster Artist for being just a few of the many life savers on this trip). There was a crazy thunderstorm when we stopped for the night in Topeka, KS. Lafe of course hated it. We also got to see Tyler's great Aunt Pat and Uncle Jim too!

Driving with the dogs was not as terrible as I thought it would be. Lafe pretty much sat on my lap the entire time; and when I would shove him in the back, he would sulk and just stare at me until I would let him come back over. Charlie, on the other hand, was made for road trips. She sleeps the ENTIRE TIME! And usually she gets carsick, but we made it the whole trip with no incidents. We stopped every three hours at local parks in the area and that seemed to help get all their pent up energy out.

I can definitely say this trip would have been 100x harder if Tyler's parents were not helping us by driving the Penske truck for us. They are truly the best, and we can't thank them enough.
